Looking for the best beauty tips for hair that looks lifeless and dull?
I got you covered beauty.
When there’s a ton of contradictory information on the internet, it’s easy to get lost and even make mistakes when it comes to proper hair care.
Some people swear by natural hair masks (like, MAYO), others simply list expensive hair care products that are supposed to do the trick.
Yet none of them are magic!
If you want beautiful, healthy, shiny, and vibrant hair, bathing them in masks is not enough.
There are so many more things you can do to make sure your hair stays in top condition.
In this article, I’ve collected our best beauty tips for hair that will lay a foundation for healthy and sexy locks, no matter what type of hair you have.
The Most Helpful Beauty Tips For Hair That Feels Damaged & Looks Lifeless
1. Maintain a nutritious diet
Believe it or not, the way your hair looks, grows, and feels is primarily connected to the things you eat.
Your hair roots need proper nourishment so they can create strong and healthy hairs that grow out of them.
You can feed your hair roots with various hair ampoules – which is great! – but the main source of nutrition comes from within.
So, to keep your hair healthy, eat a healthy, nutritious diet with lots of protein, vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats.
2. Always use a hair conditioner
This is one of the most important beauty tips for hair in the world – just make sure to always condition your hair after you shampoo it.
A conditioner does not only make your hair softer and shinier, but a well-formulated conditioning treatment will make your hair more flexible.
This way, your hair is less prone to breakage and the overall appearance of your hair improves.

3. Choose chemical-free hair care products
Let’s talk more about chemicals and how they can make your hair feel damaged.
One of the main reasons our hair becomes dull, dry, brittle, and damaged is a ton of chemicals that are added in (most) commercial shampoos. You can find Sodium Laureth Sulfate in almost every shampoo, and it is very drying to your hair. Additionally, the silicones that hide in most commercial hair conditioners, balms, and masks only fake the look of healthy hair – but create a great deal of damage over time.
Would you like to see your hair becoming alive, truly becoming, and feeling healthier?
Invest in hair care products that don’t have harsh chemicals in them. Choose hair masks that are filled with nourishing oils and plant extracts, instead of silicones. It may take some time for them to heal your hair, but they will actually heal, instead of just masking the problem of dry, brittle, or frizzy hair.

4. Be careful with hair dyes
If you’re regularly dyeing your hair, do you just touch up your roots, or cover your whole head?
Hair dyes are notoriously effective at making you look spectacular, but also – they can be very damaging to your hair and leave it looking porous and dry. If you have to touch up your roots, just touch up the roots and use a color-toning treatment on the rest of your hair. This way, your preserving as much moisture as it’s possible and still look great!

5. Include oils in your hair care routine
Falling in love with precious hair care oils is one of my favorite beauty tips for hair, that I just can’t leave unmentioned. Once I started using various oil treatments on my hair, I’ve solved a multitude of problems! Using oils in hair care can help to:
- Restore the moisture in your hair;
- Strengthen your hair so it doesn’t break so easily;
- Prevent and minimize hair loss;
- Make your hair thicker over time;
- Bring back the illuminating shine to your tresses.
You can use about any oil on your hair, but I had the most success with these: coconut oil, olive oil, sesame oil, linseed oil, grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, and my favorite nourishing treatment for very dry hair – the Karite, or shea butter.

6. Minimize your hairstyling routine
Here’s the thing – every hair styling tool and product you use can be making your hair unhappy.
Heat, fixating styling products, and silicone-filled “liquid crystals” – all of these he.p to make you look great, but could be making your hair dry in reality.
If you can, try to minimize your hair care routine as much as possible.
Do you really need to curl your hair every other day?
Can you skip the hair straightener once in a while?
Would it be that bad if you didn’t use hair spray to keep those flyaways in place?
If you can’t say no to any of your hair tools and products, try to find a healthier alternative.
You could try blow-drying your hair on a cooler setting, replacing a chemical-based hair spray with a natural, vegetable-based hair spray, and so on.
7. Brush carefully
If you’ve asked your grandmother for beauty tips for hair from her time, she would probably tell you to brush your hair 100 times before bed.
In the past, it was a very popular idea and many women believed in it.
However, there is no scientific proof that his hair care idea works.
In fact, brushing and tugging your hair too often can make your hair weaker and cause them to break, especially if your hair is dry or curly.
For the best results, stick to brushing your hair no more than 3 times a day.
8. Dry your hair naturally, whenever possible
This is one of the simples beauty tips for hair that can give incredible results over time.
Staying at home for a day or two?
Make your hair a favor and allow them to air dry.
Your hair may not look as tidy and polished as after a blowdry, but you will avoid a dose of heat that makes the moisture evaporate from your hair.
Tip: did you know that allowing air-dry is an essential part of creating trendy “fluffy hair“?
9. Take care of your scalp
Just like nutrition is essential for healthy roots and hair, taking care of your scalp is also important.
It’s a great idea to use a scalp scrub once in a while, and do a healing scalp treatment with various oils to make sure your scalp and the skin underneath your hair are also healthy.
This helps to prevent dandruff, minimize hair loss, and promote hair growth too!
10. Protect your hair from UV rays
We’re all susceptible to sun damage, and our hair is not an exception.
This is why the last of our beauty tips for hair include sunscreen!
This is especially important in spring and summer when the sun is very harsh.
Choose a gentle product that allows you to moisturize or nourish your hair along with providing UV protection.
