Long and healthy hair looks marvelous, but at the same time, it is a bit tricky to obtain and keep it that way.
If you are dreaming about long Rapunzel locks, you should know that you will need a bit of patience.
However, speeding up your hair growth is not impossible and actually – quite easy!
Here is how to make your hair grow faster and encourage those hair follicles in the right direction.
All tips are based on my own experience.
How To Make Your Hair Grow Faster: 12 Rapunzel Habits To Steal!
1. Get Your Hair Regularly Trimmed
Some women avoid trimming their hair because they truly believe it prevents the hair from growing or cuts off “all of the progress”.
The truth is a trim revitalizes your hair by removing damaged or split ends, and it actually makes your hair grow faster (a little!).
Create a routine and focus on trimming your hair at least once in 8-9 weeks and just make sure to find a hairdresser that is NOT dedicated to trimming more than 2 inches.
This will get you one step closer to the desired hair length.
2. Choose a Gentle Shampoo With Castor Oil
To help your hair grow faster and stronger, use a very gentle shampoo – ideally made from natural ingredients, without parabens, phthalates, sulfates or silicone.
A gentle shampoo will nourish both your scalp and hair, leaving it glowing and healthy, but most importantly – it improves hair elasticity and makes your hair stronger.
The stronger the hair, the longer it can grow without breaking!
I highly recommend choosing a shampoo with castor oil, which is known as a perfect oil that can make your hair grow faster (and you can use it on your eyelashes and eyebrows too!).
I’ve been using it for years and not only it made my hair long and healthy (it’s almost reaching my elbows in length), but it also took care of my hair loss problem.
Here are a few wonderful castor oil products:

3. Don’t Shampoo Too Often
Cleaning your hair too often might lead to a loss of natural oils, brittle hair, and even breakage.
If you want to make your hair grow faster, this is something to consider, because not only does it make your hair dry, but it can also interrupt the growing process.
Wash your hair only when it feels greasy or dirty, preferably at least two days apart.
4. Do a Two-Step Deep Condition Once a Week
The basic rule each and every time you wash your hair is to complete your routine by applying a conditioner.
Never skip this!
But when you want to make your hair grow faster, going a few extra miles can be really worth it!
In addition to regular conditioner, using a deep conditioner or a leave-in mask, nourishes the hair at a cellular level, promoting growth and preventing breakage.
I personally had fantastic results with two-step conditioning, which means:
1. Using a deeply nourishing oil
2. Applying a deep conditioning mask
My hair tends to get dry because I dye it once a month so it loves thick oils and butter.
I had the best results with pure shea butter and it’s probably one of my favorite hair growth secrets of all time!
For the first deep conditioning step, simply melt a generous amount of shea butter in your palms and apply it all over your hair.
Leave it on your scalp + hair for a few hours and then gently wash off the butter with a moisturizing shampoo.
You can get pure shea butter on Amazon for a pretty good price:
Unrefined African Shea Butter – Ivory, 100% Pure & Raw
For the second step, you can use any deeply conditioning mask you want.
I recommend the ones that have oils (like castor, macadamia, argan or olive) and preferably – biotin, which is an essential vitamin for hair growth.
I had great results with these hair masks:
Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Mask
ArtNaturals Argan Hair Mask Conditioner
5. Avoid Wrapping The Towel Around Your Wet Hair
Yes, the classic move of making a small turban with your towel after you washed your hair is fancy, yet for your hair, it can mean breakage, dryness and even a pause in growth.
If you are looking for all the possible ways to make your grow your hair faster, it might be a good idea to allow it to dry naturally, without wrapping a towel.
You can simply pat or gently press the hair to soak up the excess moisture.
6. Use a Smooth Brush
It’s not imperative to brush your hair all the time and that “100 strokes a day” thing does not work, just so you know!
Rather do it from now and then, when you feel like it is necessary.
Also, it is best to opt for a very gentle brush, made from natural fibers in order to prevent breakage.
Natural bristles also help to gently massage the scalp and “tickle” those tiny hair follicles every time you brush your hair.
7. To Make Your Hair Grow Faster, Allow It To Rest
That’s the bitter truth!
If you truly desire to make your hair grow faster, you will have to cut down on hair-drying, flat ironing, curling, strengthening, or, if you are really devoted to achieving those long luscious locks, avoid spending too much time in the sun too.
The less you interfere with your hair’s natural state, the faster it will grow.
8. Use Soft Pillowcases
If you want the hair of a goddess, you will have to make a change to your pillows too.
Use soft cotton or even silk pillowcases as they help to prevent tangles, breakage, and damage (it’s wonderful for your skin too!).
Also, an important tip from modeling stars on how to make your hair grow faster – it’s to let your hair loose while sleeping!
Keeping it constantly wrapped up in a ponytail or bum will only weaken the hair roots and lead to falling.

9. Massage Your Scalp
Pampering your scalp is also a sure way to make your hair faster.
A gentle massage has the power to boost blood flow (and therefore – hair nourishment), relieve tension and even relax you, all of which can have a beneficial impact on your hair.
Start with the front of your scalp and work your way back with gentle moves and constant pressure.
Do it daily if you can!
10. Review Your Diet
What you eat can have a huge impact on your skin and hair too.
So make sure to get proper amounts of vitamins and minerals, and staying hydrated is a must since a dehydrated scalp leads to hair loss.
Eat nuts, eggs, leafy greens, avocado, salmon or red meat to make your hair grow faster from the inside.
11. Get Hair Growth Supplements
If you are doing all of these and still feel like your hair isn’t growing (or maybe you just want to have that long hair ASAP), consider taking some supplements such as silica, iron, B vitamins, and biotin.
This will boost your immune system and make your hair grow faster + give it a healthy appearance.
I personally prefer to be a no-brainer is simply choose a formula that is created specifically for hair growth, like Hairfinity and similar packs:
Hairfinity Healthy Hair Vitamins
Biotin (5000mcg) Infused with Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
12. Calm Down & Relax Daily
Stress, anxiety, or fatigue can lead to hair loss, which is why it is best to find a way to relieve tension in your body.
Take a walk, learn how to meditate, or simply do some stretches to help yourself relax daily.
Taking care of your mental wellness is a must if you want your hair long… believe it or not.
