I guess we all face a time in our lives when looking in the mirror leaves you horrified – your hair seems completely neglected due to the damage it has. I faced such times when I was dealing with my anxiety in the past – I simply couldn’t calm down enough to care about the way my hair looks. It was not important.
But once I’ve bounced back to my normal self, I struggled to find a quick, natural fix to deal with the problem, because I didn’t want to cut my long, dark hair.
After thoroughly researching various hair care tips and tricks, I came up with a list of natural hair restoration ideas that quickly revive your damaged and neglected hair with the ingredients available in your kitchen.
Of course, natural remedies will never be as effective as the store-bought products, but if you want to deal with the problem naturally, it is not impossible. Natural treatments can help you heal your hair, instead of just hiding the problem under a layer of silicones that continue to harm your hair.
So, let’s not waste time and take a look at these cool at-home remedies for damaged hair that will make you wish you knew them sooner.
1) Avocado versus damaged hair
The purest natural hair mask can be done with ripe avocado and one egg. Mash the avocado, mix with the egg and apply this mixture to your wet hair.
Leave on to work its magic for around 20 minutes and rinse a couple of times. Use this mask once a week if you have damaged hair or once a month if you want to keep your hair healthy. Avocados work wonders when it comes to damaged hair because they are rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids that restore your hair health.
2) Get a butter massage
Yes, you’ve read that right! A pretty effective home remedy for dry hair is a butter massage. I was very skeptical about this, but it actually works!
All you have to do is take a small amount of butter, apply it all over your hair and cover your hair for around half an hour. After that, shampoo your hair as usual or until the butter washes off.
3) Olive oil as a conditioner
You’ve probably heard about this one before because olive oil has a multitude of health benefits, including reviving dry hair and deeply hydrating it.
Warm up half of cup of olive oil and apply it on your hair. Wrap your hair in a towel and allow it to work for around 45 minutes. Shampoo and rinse and your hair is ready to shine again!
If you want to use olive oil treatment regularly, I really recommend applying it before night (place a towel over your pillow) and wash it off in the morning for deep hydration.
Since oils in general are amazing for hair restoration, I really recommend trying out a few different types of oils or butters to find the one that works best for you. Along with olive oil, I had great success with shea butter, argan and coconut oils too! All of them significantly improved my hair texture and boosted moisture levels + shine.
4) Rock an apple cider vinegar mask
To quickly repair damaged hair, you can also use apple cider vinegar. The acid in the vinegar helps to even out the hair shaft and leaves your hair smooth and silky. A lot of hair care products have acid in one or another form because it is so useful in making your hair soft.
Mix 1 teaspoon of it with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 3 egg whites. Apply the mixture on your hair and cover it for half an hour. Shampoo as usual, condition and you’ll see how your hair will start looking healthier just from the first usage of this homemade hair mask.
5) Do you love omelet?
The right amount of proteins can help rebuild your hair strength and making a mixture from one egg, and a couple of tablespoons of shampoo is one of the ways to nourish your hair.
Apply on your damaged hair, leave it on for 5 minutes and wash it off. This simple treatment will boost hair growth + protein production responsible for hair strength.
So, to quickly revive your damaged and neglected hair, you can simply make use of some common ingredients available in your kitchen.
Keep in mind that a healthy diet rich in omega-3 also contributes to your hair health and prevents it from becoming fragile. And if you adore your ponytails, it is best to allow your hair to go wild on a daily basis to promote your hair wellbeing!
