Essential Oil Blends Lavender Rosemary Mint On The Table

Essential oil blends are hotter than ever right now, and it seems as though diffusers have been the major Christmas gift circulating under many trees during these past years.

Essential oils are not only a great way to leave your house smelling fresh, but they are also a great tool in combating negative emotions and stress.

While it may seem more convenient to go out and purchase a pre-packaged oil for your diffuser, we have compiled a list of the easiest DIY essential oil blends for mood – boost your mood and pull yourself out of those dreaded blues!

You will also find a free mood tracker printable at the bottom of this page to help you track your moods and check which essential oil blends work for you best.

Lemon and Joy Blend for Stress Relief

Do you ever find yourself begrudgingly prepping for a deep clean of your house, and within five minutes the smell of your lemon-scented cleaning products has suddenly settled you right into the task?

Well, it turns out that that’s not all in your head!

A 2006 study performed on mice proved that lemon essential oil had a powerful calming effect and was an effective mood-improving agent during the stress tests that were performed.

Not only that, but the lemon was concluded to be more effective at relieving stress than any other essential oils, such as lavender or rose.

Joy, is also an oil proven to promote feelings of happiness and merriment. Fans of joy swear by applying the oil directly over the heart in order to maintain emotional balance.

We recommend adding 4 drops of lemon and 2 drops of joy, as some people are not initial fans of the scent of joy strictly on its own.

Bergamot and Geranium Blend for Happier Thoughts

Bergamot is a commonly used oil in aromatherapy for elevating mood and alleviating stress. A little-known benefit of bergamot is that it can also act as a nasal decongestant when inhaled and an antibacterial agent when applied to the skin (diluted!), making it a perfect candidate in our list of powerful essential oil blends.

Geranium also shares the same mood-boosting properties of bergamot, but can additionally reduce fatigue and tension, as well as improve cognitive function and balance out hormones.

If you are interested in mixing up this blend for yourself, then we suggest 4 drops of bergamot and 2 drops of geranium for optimal results.

Orange, Lavender, and Cypress Blend for Feeling Of Wellness

Lavender is one of nature’s most versatile plants, and by itself, it has powerful benefits that give back not only to your mood and well-being, but it is also a beauty must-have.

When combined with orange, the two make a strong combination on their own, but we suggest throwing in a few drops of cypress oil as well, for that refreshing sense of brightness.

Orange is another scent commonly found in popular cleaning products, and for good reason, it is an anxiety eliminator.

A 2013 study found that aromatherapy with orange essential oil reduced the pulse rate and stress hormones in children undergoing a dental procedure.

Typically, we’ve been mixing only two oils per our DIY essential oil blends, but for this concoction, we figure, the more the merrier!

Try mixing 2 drops of each of the three oils in with one another for ultimate relaxation.

Lime and Ylang Ylang Blend for Clarity and Calm

The pleasant citrus scent of lime is said to both promote mental clarity and encourage creativity.

When applied topically, lime provides essential antioxidants to the skin, reducing any and all unwanted dark spots. Ylang Ylang, if you did not already know, is a yellow star-shaped flower that grows on the Cananga tree.

Interestingly enough, ylang ylang is a potent essential oil and is oftentimes used as a top note in perfumes, such as Chanel Number Five.

In research, ylang-ylang has been shown to lower blood pressure, decrease heart rate, and boost mood.

You will definitely want to be sure to add this to your growing recipes of essential oil blends!

Try adding 3 drops of lime and 2 drops of ylang-ylang essential oil for best results.

Elemi and Grapefruit for Less Anxiety

Elemi oil is very helpful in wound care, as well as supporting respiratory health.

Its scent is said to be a mix of citrusy, peppery, and a somewhat spicy combination.

Elemi is another example of essential oil that provides big benefits to the skin.

It turns out that this oil is a fine line and wrinkle fighter, as well as a moisturizing must-have.

On the other hand, grapefruit is yet another essential oil that fights anxiety by lowering blood pressure and reducing stress.

Grapefruit is also said to be an effective mood balancer, which can be good news if like us, your life can get a little hectic.

We recommend this essential oil blend if you are feeling a little confused or down.

Simply add 3 drops of elemi and 3 drops of grapefruit for a bright and crisp combination that will be sure to direct you to more positive emotions.
