With age, the collagen production drops, so both your actual lips and the skin around them start to sag and lose tone. Another reason to see lip wrinkles around your lips is that through life, we’re smiling – a lot! The repeated action of smiling contributes to the sagging of facial muscles and makes the lip wrinkles even more noticeable.
Can You Get Lip Wrinkles At a Young Age?
While most people experience them as the first sign of aging, they can also appear due to genetics or stress. There are plenty of women who notice their first lip wrinkles as soon as they turn 30.
There is nothing quite as distressing as seeing your once plump and full lips getting filled with lip wrinkles, but don’t worry, because you can reduce them or at least make them less noticeable! In this article, I am discussing a few natural methods that will help you to get rid of lip wrinkles and bring those beautiful lips back to life.
How To Get Rid Of Lip Wrinkles: Simple Solutions That Work
1. Use sun protection
Even though we don’t realize it, our lips need just as much sun protection as any other part of our face. A lot of women seem to forget their lip care, which results in saggy, wrinkled lips. Not only the lips, but the skin around your lips is also susceptible to harmful rays and needs special protection from the sun.
While using sunscreen won’t eliminate lip wrinkles by itself, the first thing you want to do is simply stop the progression of the problem. All other actions won’t be as effective if you’re not willing to use sun protection from now on.
- For the skin around your lips, invest in a sunscreen with a minimum of 30 SPF, and make sure to apply it every 2 hours while you are out in the sun.
- For the lips, your best bet is to buy a lip balm with a sun shield and reapply it throughout the day to prevent the drying effect on the lips.

Exfoliating your lips is a fantastic way to remove dead skin, which reveals new skin underneath and may help you to make lip wrinkles less noticeable. If you want to keep your lips looking fresh and plump, exfoliate your lips at least once a week.

Just mix a tablespoon of brown sugar with one tablespoon of olive oil (add some honey if you have it), and massage it on your lips in a circular motion. This lip scrub will gently exfoliate and moisturize your lips, which can help you to get rid of lip wrinkles naturally (or at least make them softer).

3. Regularly massage your lips with Vitamin E oil

- The second method is to attempt to make a big “O” shape with your mouth while keeping your teeth hidden with your lips.
These exercises will gently stretch your lips and tone the muscles around them (to increase elasticity and reduce lip wrinkles over time). Facial exercise may feel useless at first, but with patience, you can notice a visible change in the appearance of your lips and a reduction in lip wrinkles.

5. Drink plenty of water
Believe it or not, this one is a no-brainer. Your body needs water, and if you are dehydrated, the result is parched skin, dry patches, and – you guessed it – lip wrinkles! Aim to get at least eight glasses of water every day to give your body the hydration it needs. You may also notice a general improvement in your body health along with improved skin texture and reduced lip wrinkles.
6. Take collagen supplements

All of these skin procedures, especially the anti-wrinkle injections, are very effective at getting rid of lip wrinkles. However, some of them come with a downside of skin irritation and the healing process, and all of them can be pricy (depending on where you live).
One more option to try is lip shading. While it may not tackle the wrinkles directly, subtle and professional lip shading can make the lip lines appear less visible. Plus, it saves you valuable time getting ready in the morning!
Lip Wrinkles Are NOT Your Enemy
