ShineSheets is a personal blog, and I want you to be able to trust what you read here. This page explains who writes the articles, how they are researched, and how I keep them accurate over time.
Who writes ShineSheets
ShineSheets is written and edited by me, Amber. A small number of older articles were written by guest contributors; those articles show the contributor's name in the byline and link to their author page.
Personal experience vs. research
When I write in the first person ("I tried", "I use"), I'm describing my own experience. I never invent experiences, results or product tests. When a topic goes beyond what I have lived, I rely on research and make it clear that I am sharing information rather than a personal story.
Research and sources
- I prefer primary and authoritative sources: peer-reviewed studies, medical and public health organizations, and professional associations.
- Where a claim depends on a study or an official guideline, I link to the source so you can read it yourself.
- I avoid exaggerated promises. Self care, beauty and wellness results differ from person to person.
Health and mental health content
Articles about health, skin conditions, anxiety, depression or other medical topics are for general information only. They are not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always talk to a qualified professional about your own situation. Articles about mental health include crisis resources, and if you are in the United States you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) at any time.
Product recommendations
- I recommend products because I think they are genuinely useful for the topic, not because a brand paid for it.
- Some links are affiliate links (for example, Amazon Associates). I may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are marked as sponsored in the page code.
- Prices and availability change, so always check the details on the retailer's site before you buy.
Advertising and independence
Display ads on ShineSheets are managed by Raptive. Advertisers do not see articles before they are published and have no influence on what I write. Any sponsored collaboration is clearly labeled as sponsored. You can read more on the advertise page.
Updates and dates
I review older articles and update them when information changes, links break or something can be explained better. Each article shows its original publish date, and an "Updated" date appears only when the article has been meaningfully revised.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, an outdated fact or a broken link, please email amber@shinesheets.com with the subject "Correction" and the page link. I review every report and correct confirmed errors as quickly as I can.
