Woman Listing Things To Do By Yourself While Laying On The Bed

Finding affordable things to do by yourself may seem difficult and boring, but you would be surprised how refreshing and invigorating some quality time with yourself can be! There are so many different things you can do without spending a dime! It just takes a bit of creativity and open-mindedness. Often when we get bored, we want to find something to break the boredom as quickly as possible – this usually costs you money.

Chances are if you take a look around your home, you can find a whole host of things to do by yourself that are fulfilling and a great way to pass the time. Quarantine has left many of us with a lot of free time, and not a lot of people to see or things to do! We know that it can be difficult to get the ball rolling, so we have given you some ideas on how to find free things to do by yourself!

Things To Do By Yourself Without Spending Money

1. Give yourself a makeover

Sure, you do your makeup all of the time, but how often do you try a new look? Usually, we stick to the same makeup routine in order to get out of the house, or on a Zoom call as quickly as possible. But taking the time to switch up your look can be fun, and who knows, maybe you find a new look that you want to try more often!

2. Pamper yourself

Even though we may be spending less time running around and more time at home, that doesn’t mean that we are relaxing all day every day. It is crucial to set aside time for yourself to relax and unwind. Give yourself a spa day! Take a bath, paint your nails, and give yourself a facial! You deserve a few hours to tune out the world and focus on making yourself feel like a queen!

3. Get creative and “art” out

One of the easiest things to do by yourself is to pick up a creative hobby that gives you time to express yourself and focus on your thoughts and feelings. Now is a great time to teach yourself a new creative skill like painting, sewing, sculpting – the options are endless! To do it without pulling out your wallet, start with a collage using pictures and magazine clippings – vision board anyone?

4. Try a new workout

When it comes to working out, many people think that “free” means boring activities like running or doing 100 crunches, but there are so many options to explore! Youtube and many other websites are home to countless free workout videos that you can try to exercise at home! Don’t have any equipment? Don’t sweat it, there are plenty of videos that only require you to show up!

5. Teach yourself how to cook

Sure, takeout is easy, and you can order whatever you want, but it is so expensive and never tastes a good coming out of a box. Cooking can be therapeutic and gives you a chance to take more ownership of what you are putting in your body. There are many free cooking videos to be found online and on social media! Tap into your inner chef and start learning how to create your first culinary masterpiece!

6. Go for a walk

Sometimes the best thing to do is the simplest! Did you know that going on a walk has been proven to relieve stress, help anxiety, and improve your mood? Put some headphones in, grab a comfortable pair of shoes, and head out the door. It doesn’t have to be a long walk; a quick 15-minute stroll can help break up the day and leave your feeling refreshed and ready for the rest of the day!

7. Organize your finances

Sure, this doesn’t sound like the most fun thing to do by yourself but taking control of your finances can give you a sense of relief and control – especially if you have been avoiding them and they’ve gotten a bit messy. Take a look at your income, expenses, and figure out new ways to manage your money and maybe even invest to grow your personal wealth.

8. Read that book that you have been putting off

We are all guilty of buying books upon books and not actually read them. Now is a great time to pick one off of the shelf and dive in! A great way to kill boredom is to dig into a great story and go on an adventure into your imagination. If fiction isn’t your thing, check out a new autobiography or self-help book to give you a perspective.

9. Try a meditative practice

One of the best things to do by yourself is to meditate or take part in a practice that lets you unwind and focus. Deep breathing, yoga, meditation, these are all fantastic ways to get in touch with your inner self and get grounded.

You have so many great options to consider when trying to find things to do by yourself! Why spend money when you can spend time doing something that you enjoy and that makes you feel great about yourself?
